WE LIVE IN ALASKA NOW!

Yup, that's right. Eric got a job in the spring time, prior to his graduation from Oregon State. He moved up to Anchorage in June, just a few days after his last class. I stayed in Portland at my mom's house for a month, working on my tan with my brother Matt's girlfriend Erika. I had lots of fun hanging out with her! Though I didn't get to spend much time with other friends in the area, mostly because I'm a lazy jerk. I did get a chance to focus on wedding planning though, which was nice.

So Eric flew back to Portland for the wedding - he was so gosh darn CUTE when we picked him up from the airport! I couldn't stop hugging him! Sooo...then we got married on July 11th, 2009 in Bend. It was a beautiful, sunny day.

I am so glad I married Eric!!!!!! It's great being married to someone who agrees with me on nearly everything. Plus he's a great cook, and if you know me you must know I am a terrible cook (ADD & recipes don't mix)! :)

I moved up to Alaska with him in July, we flew up to Anchorage from Portland the day after our wedding! We went on our honeymoon on the Kenai Peninsula and explored Soldotna. And YES we brought our dogs! They flew up on the airplane with us, along with the 1 cat we were able to bring along (Oscar). They did surprisingly well and thank God didn't go potty all over themselves in the plane! haha.

Since then we have just been hanging out in Anchorage. We went camping and fishing a few times. The more "wild" parts of Alaska are much nicer than the cities. Honestly I don't like Anchorage much. From what I've experienced, it's pretty ghetto. Kind of like a mini-Los Angeles.

So now it's mid-September, temperatures are cooling down. Eric has decided he wants a new job, he doesn't like the one he got. So we are going to be moving pretty soon (at least that's the plan). Not sure where to. We are hoping to move to Fairbanks. If not we will happily return to Oregon (if we can find jobs there) with a few fond memories of our summer spent in Alaska.

We may or may not be staying here much longer. I will keep everyone updated!

I do NOT have internet since we moved up here, which explains why I haven't updated this since spring.

We are happy - and looking forward to moving somewhere new again.

Spring has sprung!

Spring break was nice. Eric and I left Corvallis to visit Prineville for a week. Peanut got to meet his new brother-in-law "Jack" - little black mutt. They LOVED each other, maybe a bit too much. ;)

I got a new haircut, chopped off 4 inches and got some layering done. I look so different!!! I really wanted to have my hair color be all my own natural color for our wedding, so I chopped off all the old fake stuff and split ends. I LOVE IT.

Wedding planning is going fine, though I'm a bit overwhelmed. There are so many little tiny things and they really add up!!! Some good news - we were able to find wedding invitations on clearance (80% off!) for only $11. That's right, we are paying about $100 less for invitations than we had planned. Excellent!

I can't WAIT to move out of Corvallis. Eric and I both agree it's not an ideal place to live. So in June, when he's done with his degree, we plan on moving somewhere new. The scary thing is we have NO IDEA where we'll be moving. There seems to be jobs all over the country that Eric will qualify for so we're just waiting to see which one God wants us to pick. It's pretty exhilarating not knowing where we'll be living 3 months from now. We could be in Alaska, Texas, Oklahoma, Maine, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona...we really have no idea.

What I want more than anything is a nice house with a HUGE yard for all of our pets. I'm hoping someday I can run my own doggy daycare on my own property. I'm also hoping someday I can save up enough money to buy myself a nice digital SLR camera so that I can get more involved with my most favorite hobby - photography! Honestly I still don't understand WHY I'm in college getting a B.S. in Social Science, it has absolutely nothing to do with my interests. I LOVE animals (especially dogs) and photography. That's about it. haha :)

I AM SO HAPPY with Eric, he really is my perfect match. Anytime we talk about life - morals, goals, crazy ideas, opinions, we always seem to agree on everything. It really makes life easier when two hearts are pointed in the same direction. We both want to have livestock someday - Eric wants meat goats and rabbits, I'm hoping we can also afford a couple horses or mules someday too. I want to live out in the country - I'm willing to work in a city so long as I can have my home be out somewhere more rural. I love seeing stars at night. I'm hoping we can live somewhere sunny and warm but at the same time I will be happy just about anywhere. My furry little family is coming with us wherever we go.

One thing I LOVE about my relationship with Eric is that we are both perfectly content with VERY LITTLE (in regards to material possessions). We lived in a travel trailer for 6 months out in the desert, we have considered living in a BUS...we really are just happy to have food, shelter, and each other's company. We are both so blessed to have found each other!

I'm rambling a bit too much - I think I need food to recharge my brain!!!!

Matthew 6:19-21
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

update

Peanut and Zevon (the dogs) have been happy lately because we've been taking them on long, daily hikes and playing lots of fetch! :) Though neither of them are good at fetch, usually it ends with me and Eric running around looking for a ball.... The cats are doing great - we rescued a 3rd cat on March 11th, we named her "Izzy" because we ate at Izzy's Pizza the night we rescued her. She had been living in the humane society for over 3 months and we just thought she was the coolest cat ever so we took her home after visiting her multiple times. :) The other cats took to her rather quickly and now they all sleep together on our bed when we're not home. The dogs don't seem to care that there's another cat. They're more interested in other things, like sleeping, eating, and running around outside.

I AM SO EXCITED FOR OUR WEDDING IN JULY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS. Eric cut his hair, again. He got so scruffy and was never washing his hair so he decided to shave it all off! Hopefully it grows back enough to look normal again by July. :)
